Match Rules

Scoring System
-
Win = +3 Points
-
Loss = 0 points
-
Draw = +1 Point
-
Shootout Win = +2
-
Shootout Loss = retain +1

In case of a full-time draw, teams continue to a shootout (3 goal minimum until missed attempt). Both teams are awarded +1 point for the draw, but the winner of the shootout will receive ONE EXTRA point, putting their total points for the match to +2.
Goal Differences
If 2 or more teams are tied in Win/Loss points, their respective placement in the Standings table is determined by goal difference.
Example:
In this case, Team A would be ahead in standings. Although team B has the same points and scored more goals, they have also been scored on more, which has weakened their goal difference.
Team A (9 points) Team B (9 points)
G+ (14) G+ (15)
G- (7) G- (10)
GD (7) GD (5)
No Off-Sides
Off-sides is NOT enforced during league matches. Happy time for cherry-pickers
No Slide Tackles
No player should slide in league play for several reasons:
-
Astroturf pitches. Ouch!!
-
7-a-side play is a tighter, closer-contact sport than 11-a-side. Although some players choose otherwise, everyone is advised to wear shin pads. SS7’s wishes that all players continue injury-free!
-
Penalty for sliding is an INDIRECT free kick given, whether inside or outside of the penalty box.
-
In times when sliding may be permitted is in such cases as saving the ball from going out of bounds with a distance no less than 3 strides away from any other players.
1st slide = warning + Indirect Free kick, 2nd slide = swift yellow card.
Penalties:
-
1 Yellow Card: 2 minutes off the pitch (team plays 1 man down) or until opposition scores.
-
2 Yellow Cards: = Red Card = Ejection for remainder of match.
-
Red Card: Ejection for remainder of match.
-
No touching the referee: players and participants are not allowed to touch the referees while attending football at Shanghai Stadium. Sincere disrespect or harm upon any persons during or after match-play face up to a season’s ban or permanent ejection.
Note: Management has the right to respectfully ask any player, participant, or spectator to leave the Shanghai Stadium pitch grounds on the basis of ill behavior, unsportsmanlike conduct, or posing any harm or threat to another person. Yet none of us expect any of that to happen!
Movement
The ball may move forward or backward at first touch of kick-off.
When Direct/Indirect free kicks are awarded after a foul, the defending team must be at least 8 full paces away from kicker (referee measures).
Throw-ins & Corner Kicks
Same rules apply as 11-a-side.
The minimum number of players per team in any match is 5
Occasionally players may be late or not show up. Therefore, a team is allowed to play a game with fewer than 7, but no less than 5. If players don’t have 5 of their own, then they take a forfeit even though a friendly match can still be played.

A Team may not borrow players if at least 8 have already joined the match
It’s nice to have the option of asking a player from another team join up if numbers are low, but it's considered bad taste to nab an awesome player who has already played if you have a full team ready and willing to play.
If a team hasn't arrived by 10 minutes after kick-off time, they must forfeit
To ensure equality and a high standard of play, every team should arrive, warm up, and be ready to play at their fixed time. No fun waiting for teams to put their boots on, so show up on time!

Goals
Personal goals are tallied only when you play for your team.
Goals scored while playing during friendlies or beyond the regular season don’t count toward the Golden Boot award.
Time Change
All scheduled matches are subject to change based on team availability and weather conditions. Occasionally a team may need to change their match time or Bye week.
Although the full season’s schedule and fixture times is sent at the start of competition, fixture times and dates are subject to change. Therefore, make sure continually check the weekly email updates to confirm your team’s fixture time.
Weather
Games are rarely affected by weather, and all players should expect games to commence unless contacted by management. In the off chance that weather or pollution may pose a risk, fixtures will be postponed to the following week.
Cancellations
The Shanghai Stadium Management request a 3-day minimum notice if a team is unable to play a match. If a team is unfortunately unable to play and must cancel within 2 days of the match, the fee must be paid by the forfeiting team. Friendlies may still be organized and new teams are always welcome to join.
Note: The entire season and all fixtures will be sent before the season begins. Committing, communicating, & organizing as a team each week is crucial for SS7’s League participation. If teams are unable to fulfill their responsibilities to the league, whether it be attendance, etiquette, financial dues, and/or team decorum, the management has the right to excuse any and all players involved.

Sponsors
We have a cool group of sponsors that would like to get more involved with teams. If your team is interested in working with sponsors on a win-win situation, please refer to the SS7’s management.
